This class has been informative in many ways. I have learned a lot about how the computers cpu works, how web pages are made, key people that was involved in making computers and the internet. So many things have gone into this class that I didn’t know. However there were a few things I didn’t know why we had to do. I wondered what all the blogs was for and how it helped to learn things like the history of computers, hardware, databases, or just about any of the topics. I guess it just allowed the instructor to see if the class understood what was taught that week.
The things I liked most was learning how the Pseudo computer worked and writing the HTML tags. I never really thought much about how simple the computer is. It all boils down to being able to add numbers. That and being able to turn it into the four steps of math (add, subtract, divide, and multiply). The HTML was even more exciting. I had a greater want to learn about it too. I never thought it would be so easy to make a web page. If I remember nothing else I enjoyed that more than anything.
Finally the things I liked least about this class. I think the Alice programming was real hard to understand. While I had plenty of time to do the assignment I failed to make the deadline. I know this was my own fault but it still was my least favorite thing about the class. Second to that was the Lego Mindstorm assignment. I had an emergency arise the first day we started (which again puts me at fault) but I felt behind the fallowing two classes.
Overall the class was cool. The instructor expected us to be adults and do what we needed to complete the task. If we felt we knew the information, we could leave at anytime. It was also nice to have a class that only met one day a week.

I am sure many people will talk about the pros of games today, but I would like to talk about the cons. It has been my experience that many of the new game systems have too much movement of their background. I still have my Nintendo , SNES, and a Sega that I play regularly, but when my kids play the dreamcast or playstation 2, I get motion sick with in minutes. A lot of people in this world have the same problem as I do; others are old and will never change to be computer savvy. Lastly, is the few people that can’t afford life’s luxuries such as electricity and a roof over their heads. These are the reasons why virtual worlds will never take over real life!

Other than the dilemma of common sense, to be a true artificial intelligent (AI) robot, this is really the goal. The robot would have to understand the body it was enclosed in. It would need sensory integration.
My daughter has been diagnosed with Sensory Integration Disorder (SID). Basically her mind does not understand some of the sensations her body sends to her brain. An example is that she doesn’t like to be held upside down. When she feels a sensation she don’t like it causes actual pain to her. To correct these feelings she is introduced to many different textures or held at angles of gravitational pull.
It seems to me that if we had a standard way robots was made then someone could teach the AI sensory integration the same way we would a child. I am sure it would take a long time to program everything but if all AI was the same we could just copy and paste the information. They would also have to have almost as many sensors as humans do nerves in the body.

I have had a sick child at the worse possible time for class. I can not write a long blog on something I have not done. I have a English class that keeps me from being able to come to the other tech classes. I did read the comic and found some very interesting things about the dates of when people accomplished some amazing things. I never thought about computers and robots being worked on in the 1700’s. Unfortunately this is the limit of my experiences this week working with and thinking about robots.

Security is imposable to achieve if you ever hook up to a network. New viruses and trojans are always going to be made. Check points take to long to get all the messages sent cleared. Some pages and file shares don’t even check. More then any of this is that consumers are unaware of what they are doing and simple steps they can take to stop it. I mean just don’t use your admin account to surf and play on the net. That alone could stop a lot of it.
P.S. Is number 7 of the quiz, really all the above?

First I would like to talk about Randy. He had a great out look on life. He thought of himself as a lucky man by the chances he was given. I think he was a go getter. He wanted things in life and went and got it. He was also very humble. He give most of the credit to his peers or subordance. Which is a great leadership quality but made himself sound like he wasn’t as smart as they was. Its like he was saying about Captian Kirk. He may not have all the answers but he knows how to use his people to get the right solutions to the problem.
Now I have not got to do much on Alice yet. I think it looks easy. Kinda point and click to write the programs. It also looks time consuming so I want to get on it asap. I thought both of the other programming was easy too. I had a problem with both of them. Nothing to major but still had to get help from an outside source. I have really enjoyed learning everything so far. I have never done any of this before and think it is awesome even if I have screwed it up most of the time.

I think that it is great if you can write html from scratch, but I have found it harder then I thought it was going to be. I had a very easy time getting everything to work but the pictures. One little letter stopped every pic from working. A word to the wise jpeg and jpg are not the samething. It is true what Dr. Brown said about the computer being picky.
In my opinion it is better to have a program to write long HTML pages. It is time comsumeing and mistakes can be made easily. Now having said that the program is not perfect so it is important to know how html works so you can manipulate problems that may be incountered by the program. It goes hand and hand so learn the most you can.

I have never used HTML before and have had fun learning what can be done with it. I still can’t get it to do everything I want it to but it is still really cool. I think as long as someone knows the basics it can do amazing things. You can turn things on with a simple <tab> and then turn it off by just adding a / into the it like this </tab>. I want to make sure the pics and addressses work everytime but not sure how. I think the address would be fine because it is on the web but my pics are from my computer and if I am off line then what? Maybe I can add an attachment to the file and use it as the sorce for the pictures. I still have a few things I need to figure out. I still think it is cool as hell. I want to learn as much as I can. Just have to practice more.

I found the programming very easy to use after very little practice. I know now the steps a processer uses just to move numbers into letters and colors. I thought it was great to see how it all works together. I look forward to learning more about other program luanguages. Also, I would have liked to blog more about it Sunday but couldn’t get back to tring again until today. Over all I thought it was cool though!

If I was to build a new computer first, I would look at the operating system requirements to see what I need. Then I would find a motherboard I like, because that will define what the rest of your parts are going to be , and how they will fit together. I would recamend a ATX type. I like to buy my computer things form www.newegg.com. So, Lets look at todays feature: Asus Xtreme Design w/ CrossfireX and DDR3 2000 support. It has LGA 1156, Intel P55 ,and 4×240pin DDR3 2000 … Now we will need to make sure to match the cpu and ram so it will be functional to our board. They must match perfectly. I will also need a heat sink, power supply, and cables to connect everything. I also recomend a harddrive. Computers will run without one, but not your operating system. Other things I may want is a disc drive or a burner. (reminder : floppy drives are not needed but useful in repair work) . I will also need houseing for all of this.
Moving on to outside the box! All I need now is my input and output devices. A keyboard is mandatory for computer use everything else is optional for input. Even a mouse is not neccissary, but very useful. You now should get a output device such as a monitor. All other outputs is also optional. Building a computer from scratch is more expensive then to buy it together. I think it would be better to buy one with most of what you want and then upgrade it.
