Final Blog for CSIT 1110

Ok so this is the final blog for this semester, and I will admit i’ve not been the best with posting these blogs… can’t help but to forget about them when I’ve got other crap going on lol. n e ways I pretty much want to touch base with everything i’ve learned this semester and what i feel about the class and the projects we have done. so… lets get started.

What have I learned?

What HAVE I learned? lol there has been a lot of stuff I have learned in this class. Binary is one of those things. I never understood how computers understood how we type and enter crap in. But when it comes down to it its all about binary… I even made my friends on facebook freak out posting a post all in binary… took like all of the posting and 6 other comments to get it all in there, and it was a somewhat small post lol. Other than that the section where we focused on robots and the lego project was kind of kewl. Well… the robot section was kewl, the legos was kinda weird. Being a kid and playing with legos, sure. Being and adult and playing with legos kinda say “creepy stalker kid-napper” lol. ok not literally that but I’m sure you understand what i mean.

What was my most-favorite and least-favorite projects this semester?

The HTML project was, by far, my favorite project we have completed. To actually make a page how I wanted it to look, with what I wanted written down, and what video’s I wanted to show (which once again Dr. Brown I do apologise for putting that video up, but you have to admit it was funny and I made my point with it lol). I would like to add one more time, just for emphasis that NO the video was no targetted at one specific person. It was not a hint that I found something you said offencive. The video was just a general one. I thought it was funny, so did the lucky few who did see it before I got an email from Dr. Brown asking me to remove it because of certain word(s) being said in it. *sighs* i got a huge laugh at that too… good times…
My least favorite I would have to say, sorry Dr. Brown, was the Greenfoot project. I apologise because i know how much you love that program but I found it rather blah… I don’t know. There was something about it that I just didn’t like.

Other thoughts I wish to say about the course/Instructor.

Hmm…. I did have things I wanted to say but now that I am typing them I don’t know if i can really remember what they were. I will say that at the beginning of the semester I thought I was gonna be in one of the most boring classes so far. Aside from the days where i did fall asleep in class (i swear i was not feeling good those days though) I will say I was completely wrong. Dr. Brown did keep the class interesting and fun. He wouldn’t just ramble on and on about stuff. He would either make a reference that people would be able to follow and understand or he would make a joke, 90% of the time it was a completely random one, but eh… details. lol. It was an awesome class that I am glad I didn’t drop when I thought it was boring (I’ll admit… i was gonna drop it lol). Dr. Brown, thank you for everything that you have taught me this semester and I hope one day your Human Warlock will reach lvl 80 (or w/e lvl comes out in future expansions).

We can do it! We have the technology!

So this week we are starting robotics. Playing with the lego’s i will say seems lame and all, but I can understand his point about it also. The videos we watched were awesome. I can’t wait until bi-pedal robots being the new PC. I’d want one small enough to carry around on my shoulder lol. Ok so thats seems a little pathetic, but a guy can hope right? lol

HTML project blog(2)

Ok so i have completed my first web page.  wootage!! it was a lot of fun. had to get use to the tags but once u get the hang of it it becomes so frickin easy.  http://pstcc11.pstcc.edu/~c1110a11 not exactly a catch web address but… eh… details. lol. i did figure out that the shell thing that we placed the project into is extremely picky. if the image is .JPG it will not accept .jpg… it must be caps… same with the name of something. if the picture was named Ben.jpg and u put ben.jpg it will not show…. gggrrr that was frustrating because  when i was creating the webpage it was showing the images regardless… so when i put it in the server thing it confused me… but i was quick to realize it (tho it took me 30 minutes to go back into my coding and fix them ALL and then resubmit them) oh well. all is good and groovy here now… i might go and make another one just because it was really really fun seeing my progress as i go and seeing how it looked lol. n e ways ttyl

Machine code

Ok so i am guilty of not going to labs… i’ll admitt that (totally changing as of monday since this week was a bust). Having one of my best friends who is a programmer and my father who was an IT Prof look at it and it baffled all of us. Yes, they also commented asking why we were learning Assembly Language in an Intro to IT class, but i figured there was a reason. And i hope NEVER to have to try to do this again… because its a pain in the arse ya know. There was some complications on the counting down part, mostly because we had the values as part of the beginning of the programmer or w/e its called.  so when it came to VALUE 1 written as 000-0000-1 it read STOP because of the 000 at the beginning. Thanks to the guy who sits next to me, wish i knew his name aside from the teacher and my sister i don’t know anyones name, he showed me how he did it and i realized my mistake…. GGGGRRRRR the counting up part… totally not going into lol…

Binary Assignment

Well, so far so good on the CSIT1110 class. Learned Binary, Hex and Octal this week. I found it a little confusing at first but after trying it out some got the hang of it rather easily. Partially because of my Microcomputer Architecture class going over the same thing so it made me do it a little bit more for labs and stuff. Octal still confuses me as to how it is written though. Hex is awesome, binary is way to long lol. either way… its all good and groovy.

Introduction Assignment

Hello. My Name is Benjamin Bailey. This is my second semester here at PSCC and my major is in computer science.
I’ve decided to pick up this course because, honestly, it seemed interesting, so i figured “why not?” My sister is also in this class with me which always makes a class fun lol. I’ve decided to major in computer science because my dad and best friends are also in the computer field, dad is doing computer engineering and friend is doing programming) and since i was raised around computers i have grown to love technology. Once i graduate – taking pre-req’s here then going to UT for bachelor’s – i am thinking of going into computer forensics or video game design. not 100% sure which one yet but i still have a while to go  before i really need to think about that. Aside from that i grew up in Massachusettes, born and raised, with my mom and brother. the computer part from my dad is from summer/holiday breaks with him.

other than that i do tend to be on myspace (http://www.myspace.com/serenadeofafallenangel) and facebook (can look me up by name) and just recently started using twitter (FlaggedAlliance – I play WoW, don’t ask) and yes all tweets go directly yo my phone. well,  that should be it. woot! lol
