Well this is it guys and gals we made it. Personally I have really enjoyed this class, it was my funniest, and probably the easiest of all my classes. I know it may be a shock to anyone reading this but the first blog we wrote in this class was my first blog ever. I have done many things in this class that I would have never done with this class, one example I would have never started to blog unless it was for a grade. A few more examples are the Alice project, creating my own web page, and getting to build and program a robot. For any one who has not taken this class you should read through my class blogs and think about it because it was a great class.

Ok back to day one when I was a scared little freshmen. The first week wasn’t bad mostly we covered the syllabuses, and we also had to write a blog about ourselves. Week two got more interesting when we covered binary. Which was really cool I was proud to say if you wrote a whole bunch of random zeros and one I could give you a number from it. During the third week we discussed the inside and out of a computer and for our lab we had to build won with parts we found on the internet which was fun. I don’t think I will ever forget the pseudo computer aka “The Pseudo Beast”. For those of you who don’t know a pseudo computer is a really simple computer. This was one of the most difficult things I’ve done in a while. I remember sitting at computer at home and playing with it and when it work and jumped up and started to dance, that’s right dance. All of this stuff is just the a third of the class.

Week five we talked about HTML and how to write a web page. This was really cool but was also a little time consuming but, it was fun anyways. The next week we talked about Alice and Randy Pausch and watched the last lecture which was really good by the way, if you haven’t seen it I recommend you look it up on Youtube Now don’t wait, NOW.  Programming in Alice was very fun but frustrating and time consuming. Although when mine was done it wasn’t very long although it did what I wanted it to and I enjoyed seeing the final product. Week seven we talked about programming and all the different languages although Ive heard once you’ve learned one the next comes easier I am currently taking Java and it is pretty difficult as a first time programmer. During the next week we talked about security and hacking. I acted like I could hack when I was little I would hit as many key as fast as possible and say ” there you we’re in”. I always been interested in hacking and thought the videos we watched were very cool. And that raps up the two thirds of the class.

Finally the home stretch, the Ninth week we talked about robots, which was really cool getting to see all the different kinds of robots. I loved watch the greatest robot race, it was really cool and I was hoping Stanley would win and he did Ho-ray!!!! We also got to program the Lego Mindstorm robots which was fun. Week ten we talked about A.I. and for those of you who don’t know what A.I. is look it up. Every time I think of A.I. I think of Terminator, and robots taking over the world. Talking about the conscientiousness of  a computer most of the talks went over my head although I got the jest of most of it. I hope computer never become self aware like sky net. I just now got the best part virtual reality and Video games I am gamer and this was cool to talk about in a classroom as a topic. Dr. Brown also asked us to others blogs and I found an interesting one. Some was talking about the cons in video games.  They said that video games were to complicated and to hard to follow. If you give time and look there are video games out there for you, ranging from simple to complex. Any of you who haven’t played any video games just give them a chance and don’t completely write them off. And now for the Final week of class we wrapped up about all we talked about. I just wanna say Thanks Dr. Brown for an interest and very Fun semester hopefully I can have a different class you teach.

Virtual Reality is the only reality that matters. Just kidding I know a lot about virtual realities and video games. One of the best parts about gaming is you can pick up the controller and be anybody in any world you can imagine, where you can do many things you can’t do in the real world. You can relive the past or make the future, and if you aren’t satisfied with either of those then create your own history or universe. Video games can be realistic or futuristic and the decision you make can effect the whole world.  I’m a big video gamer I just recently bought a PS3 on black Friday. I also have a Wii and Xbox 360 and I love to play first person shooter games and Role Playing games. Now you know a little about me and my world come on and join me.

When I think of A.I. or artificial intelligence, I think of movies like the Terminator and the Matrix. If you think about it those movies could become a reality in the future. Don’t get me wrong the movies are great and I loved watching them but they could possible happen. When we had class discussions about the consciousness of a computer or when they became self aware,  it was all over my head I just listened and it was good to listen to we had good discussions but don’t ask me my option on the subject. When a computer truly becomes self-aware is scary because terminator could become a reality.  Everybody have a great thanksgiving and I will blog again. Well I really don’t know what else to say tune in the week after next  to find out what happens next.

Playing with Lego’s again was fun. Just Kidding but it was fun. I’ve always thought robots were pretty cool but, I also thought they would be the death of us all other than John Conner. I really liked the terminator movies but, I always thought that could come true. Any way building the MindStorm Robots were cool it took a while but was fun when me and my partner had a system going. Today I will find out how we are going to program them. This has been one of the coolest parts of class so far I can’t wait to see what we do in these upcoming weeks. Programming the robots was pretty cool and wasn’t too hard. It turns out Java does help in other things. Next week I hope we do something really cool. Well thats about all I got. Until next week. Have a great weekend.

I’ve always been fascinated by hacking. When I was younger I wished, and acted like I already knew how but of course I didn’t. I had no idea what I was doing, I would press as many buttons as fast as I could.  Now I have a better understanding of hacking. If I still wanted to be a hacker, I would just mess with people nothing bad. I enjoyed the videos we watched I never thought you could convince me to want a captain crunch whistle. Kevin Mitnick and Steve Wozniac  were my two favorite in the video. Seeing Kevin running for the cops was pretty cool, They wouldn’t let him near a phone because they said he could start WW III, that is so cool bad for him but would be cool to say you could start WW III. And Steve Wozniac got so focused on what he wanted to do which was make a computer that satisfied him. So his friend Steve Jobs wanted to market it. Enough with hacking we also talked about safety, which didn’t concern me much until we had our discussion. I will start to make a better attempt to protect my self and my computer I glad we had this discussion. I really enjoyed this week of class and I’m looking forward to the oncoming weeks in this class.

Alice is one of the coolest things for young programmers.  You are only limited by your own imagination, and it helps you learn while you are having fun. If you are having fun and learning at the same time it is one of the best ways to learn.  I really enjoyed the video on Thursday with Randy Pausch was awesome, he made me think of some of my childhood dreams.  I can’t believe he fulfilled all but one of his childhood dreams.  He was so excited and passionate about what he did and I want to live my life like that. With seeing the video it was great and made me think about what is important in my life. It was really good and I enjoyed it.  So far I haven’t done much in Alice, but it will be sweet when I really sink into it. The only bad part is it will be very time consuming but, hey nothings perfect.  I expect my program to be cool and I will enjoy creating it. I hope you all have enjoyed reading my blog.

The thought of creating a website is a cool idea. Although doing it is another story, its not to difficult to create a basic web page but if you want it to shock people it might take a little longer.  I get the concepts we talked about in class, now all I have to do is sit down and get started.  I know how I want it to look the question is if I can make it look the way I want it to. When I first heard we were going to create a website it sounded awesome, but I was worried because I thought it would be too hard.  This will be my first experience with creating a website I’m glad it is about us and we don’t have to make anything up. I’m not very creative although I have High hopes for what my final product will be. I guess I’ll see when I get my grade. Honestly my webpage is not all that special ,but the sad part is I spent five to seven hours on it. For my first experience with html it was fun when it did what I wanted but sucked when I got stuck. Overall it was a good experience but the outcome didn’t look so great.

The Psuedo computer is cool, the basics are not that hard I got them right away. The constant values are a lot more confusing, I still don’t understand them.  I can place a value in the register but can’t subtract without using the “write” function.  I tried using two constants but it didn’t work, I though about just give up and saying it’s impossible, it’s a trick question. Hopefully today’s class will make understand better. It’s weird something so simple can seem so complex it challenges my mind just thinking about the last two questions about counting from 100 to 1 and 1 to 100. If I could figure one of them out I could change it around  a little and have both of them done.

Today’s class helped out a lot I now understand more than I did before. I can’t describe the feeling I got we the program worked, but when I hit run and it didn’t stop my dreams were crushed.  Dr. Brown made something so simple but confusing just to torcher  us and see how stupid I am (just kidding).  I like the feeling when I thought it worked I felt great for doing something so simple. I haven’t completed the assignment I writing this to take a break, hopefully I can finish it.  Finally I tamed the beast known as the psuedo computer it was very frustrating but, it feels a awesome to be done and know i did it my self with a little help from Dr.Brown and from Allen.

The case will be NZXT TEMPEST Enthusiast Steel ATX Midtower, why you ask because it looks awesome, has 6 fans, and received good feedback from consumers. http://www.amazon.com/NZXT-TEMPEST-Enthusiast-Steel-Midtower-Retail/dp/B0016L3FDG/ref=sr_1_18?ie=UTF8&s=pc&qid=1253053979&sr=1-18

The motherboard I have chosen is ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard.  The reason behind my decision is works great not my complaints in the reviews I read also not the most expensive.  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

The optical drive I would use is LaCie 301856U d2 Blu-ray Professional BD-R, BD-RE Drive – USB 2.0 Firewire, It writes rewrites and plays in blu-ray how sweet is that. The customer review said it was painless to install and works great. http://www.jr.com/lacie/pe/LAC_301856U/#…

The cpu is Intel Core 2 Duo (Conroe) E8500 LGA-775 Dual-Core because its name brand has a cache which is help and 2 processors. http://www.cpu.com/computer-parts/cpus/i…

The cpu cooler I choose is Xigmatek HDT-S1283 CPU Cooler it received the best performance award from benchmark reviews. http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?op…

The ram I’ve chosen is the CORSAIR XMS2 16GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 I chose this because what couldn’t you do with 16 gigs of ram. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

For my hard drive I found the WD RE3 WD1002FBYS – hard drive – 1 TB – SATA-300 it isn’t the best but is pretty darn good. http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1561848#PO

The power supply is from CORSAIR Model CMPSU-750HX it recieved fantastic reviews and had no negatives said about it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

The video card I had was XFX HD-489A-ZDFC it isn’t top of the line but you get what you pay for. Review for it wasn’t bad either. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

Oh yeah I also bought a new screw driver the Klein 32500 it has 11 – 1 things inside. http://www.amazon.com/Klein-32500-11-Screwdriver-Driver/dp/B0015SBILG/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&s=hi&qid=1253222171&sr=8-15

Now I think that is all the parts the video said I needed now assembly. Open the cpu line up in place don’t touch pens and drop and lock into its place. Next hook up cooler to cpu snaps into place and plug into power switch. Now for the memory drop into slot and make sure its in the right place. Finally the motherboard can go in the case line up with holes and then screw in. Pull out drive cage insert hard drive, then slide back in case. Optical drive is next slide in from front and line up with holes then screw in.  Next are the connectors look on motherboard there is a block then you plug in power, reset, and hard drive light match positive with positive and vise versa. Now plug into motherboard after plug in other cords like sound into motherboard. Next slide in the power supply and screw in don’t plug in yet.  Plug in other cables to power supply only the needed ones. Now the graphics card only goes in one way line up and slide in. Final plug in all power cables into appropriate slots and fan wires. Always check labels one mistake can cost big, untangle cords and if messy you can reconnect under motherboard to make it look nice. Then plug in and install window and that all there is to building a computer.

Finally understanding what all the zeros and ones meant was pretty cool.  It was hard to understand at first, but as time went on it started clicking. Not to jinx myself but, I think I have pretty good understanding of Binary. How information is stored on a computer stuff was not really hard.  I don’t see how someone could not go to class and still comprehend all this stuff I certainly can not.   I love that we have the option not to be here all the time but, I do better hand on or face to face.  The comic books are cool and a easy way to learn and lets not forget they are free, so thank you for making them Dr. Brown.

Hexadecimal is a harder to understand so I’m glad we aren’t doing a lot with it.  Adding binary numbers is not difficult if you know the rules. The warcraft videos were cool they made me want to play the game but, I have not the time or the money to do so. Maybe I can learn for them because one day I hope to make a video game company.  I hope this blog fills the criteria and I hope anyone reading this had fun. Until Next time ladies and Gentlemen.
