I hope you enjoyed my blog (sorry, I am not a writer but hopefully I will get better). Look over my anthropology and survival portuguese class notes- you might learn something. Also, check out my photography and short videos (much better). I woke early this morning to tell half of the group hugs and to say ciao (good bye). They were headed to the Amazon to study acai (Amazonian fruit) and do field work. Rainy. It was our turn. As we waited for our bus we recieved our papers back and grades for our classes. I made A’s in both classes. Departure from Rio de Janeiro at 1035pm. Arrived time 130pm, next day. One of the first things our group found out when we arrived back in the states was the Michael Jackson had passed away, along with one of the actors who played in the original Charlie’s Angels- Farrah Fawcett. R.I.P

Bon dia! Breakfast. 1pm, statue of Christ statue. Worked on my paper. Took bus with a tour guide. Christ statue. Catholic church. Chant music played throughout the church it was peaceful. Arrived at our hotel. Meeting with the group in Dr. Pace and Olga’s hotel room.

Today is our first full day in Rio de Janeiro. The breakfast was grande (large), and also the variety of the food was grande. We explored the city as a group. The beaches were gorgeous. The water is amazingly fresh looking. The city overall is, how do you say…bodacious. Later on I worked on my written anthropology test the rest of the evening. Boi noite!

I woke when my body felt like it. I packed and walked with Natalie to the supermarket around the block for some snacks later on. We said our thank yous, gave hugs and kisses and even took our last photos with our host mom, host sister and the host sister’s friend. They drove us to the airport and off we were to Rio de Janeiro. Ciao (goodbye) Fortaleza~

Bon dia! It is our last whole day in Fortaleza. I took a taxi with Rosalie and got my hair cut and had red and blonde streaks dyed in. I then rode home back in a taxi with Rosalie and we had lunch at Natalie and my homestay. I ate noodles with hotdog slices, yum. We took a taxi to the beach and met up with everyone there and hung out together. Afterwards we took a taxi back home. I had a good nap in the hammock and then went to hang out with some friends the rest of the evening. Boi noite!

Bon dia! Rosalie stayed the night again and the three (Natalie, Rosalie, and myself) of us took the bus and walked a bit to school. We had class with everyone (intermediate portuguese students who are going to study acai in the amazon after we leave back to the states from Rio de Janeiro) today. We spoke for a bit about the plans for the rest of the trip, what would be on our final assignments, and we also talked amongst each other. Afterwards I walked home by myself after making a haircut appointment with Odirene. I ate a delicious lunch, chicken with rice and beans. I packed most of my things to go to Rio de Janeiro this Saturday. Later that evening we had sushi to celebrate Amber’s 22nd birthday. We then headed to an outside restaurant that had live music, a sort of Brazilian grunge band was playing. We talked, took pictures, played games, sang, and enjoyed the rest of the evening in each others complany. Boi noite!

I awoke from the couch at Amber and Abbey’s homestay, took a shower, and had a delicious and big breakfast. We walked a bit and rode two different buses to get to school. When we arrived everyone got on a bus for our last excursion in Fortaleza. The ride was two hours long and we visited a Catholic church, a store that sold a bunch of wooden saints, a restaurant, and took photos of a saint (Sao Francisco). The saint was huge, as tall as an 10 story apartment complex according to my point of view. After arriving back at the school we walked home. Later on Rosalie, Natalie, Sarah, Neal, and I took a taxi to the outside market right after eating a bit at a restaurant. Boi noite!
