Dr. Scudiere’s Talk on “Quantum Physics, Alchemy, and Other Weird Stuff” 9/17/09

This was a really fascinating talk which covered A LOT of territory. With a double Ph.D. in theoretical physics and nuclear engineering as well as a decades-long career in super-secret stuff at ORNL, Matt comes to us incredibly well informed about the “real” world. At the same time, he is astonishingly well-versed in the subtleties of metaphysics–and everything in between. His talk covered fractals, chaos theory, the science of mind (including neuro-linguistic programming), quantum physics, and alchemy–everything one might want to touch on, including the kitchen sink. One of the most surprising facts is that although the talk was supposed to be 4:30 p.m.-6, we had to more or less ask people to leave at 7:00 p.m. because there had been so many great questions from the audience that kept us overtime. After the talk, members invited Matt to visit the GNOSIS group again for a deeper Q & A session, to which he agreed. What a great way to start the academic year! What did the rest of you think?

Our new GNOSIS blog!

Today, Audrey Williams, our tech guru, created our new GNOSIS blog, a forum for GNOSIS folks to reflect on what it is we learn and do this semester.  Let me know if you want author access to the blog, and I will give you the necessary permissions.
