Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has received reports of fraudulent emails (phishing) referencing a CDC sponsored State Vaccination Program.
The messages request that users must create a personal H1N1 (swine flu) Vaccination Profile on the cdc.gov website. The message then states that anyone that has reached the age of 18 has to have his/her personal Vaccination Profile on the cdc.gov site.
The CDC has NOT implemented a state vaccination program requiring registration on www.cdc.gov. Users that click on the email are at risk of having malicious code installed on their system.
An example of the CDC Phishing email follows:
Helpdesk reminds users to take the following steps to reduce the risk of being a victim of a phishing attack:
• Never click links inside of email messages in order to enter personal information.
• If there is a need to enter personal information, go directly to the website by typing in the website address.
• Never click links inside of email messages that requires your personal login information to enter website.

All students have been using the new OWA 2007 (Outlook Web Access) to check college email from the Pellissippi website during this fall semester. However over the Thanksgiving weekend, the remaining faculty and staff were moved over to the new OWA 2007 server as well. Anything new takes time to get used to, but we think you will enjoy all the new features that make it act more as the client Outlook. Check out the Outlook Demo on the Webmail page!
