Final Blog

Well class is over except for the last test. My favorite weeks where probably Binary, Robots, and Alice. Binary is one thing that i learned that i really like i never knew how binary worked till this class. I liked the hexadecimal system being able to see exatly what is on the drive and being able to change it.  I liked the robotics because of the hardware. building a robot that can do simple tasks is harder then it looks programing the robot finding the corect power to each moter was the hardest. Alice was my favorte programing environment the ability to change a world or create one from scratch. I also Liked the 3D witch the outhers where not.

Virtual Reality

Virtual reality is something that takes a lot of work to create. You create things from games for a game system to a fuel 3D world with a helment that simulates your full fild of view but is still not good high qualty video output. Allice was my world of choise because i did not know any java. But i liked the 3D instead of the 2D scratch much better.

Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence is something we as humans need to get used. To we currently do not think of computers or robots as intelligent but they do not have to be intelligent in the way we think of to have artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is when something reads the input and reachesto the input. For example checkers on the computer the computer can appear intelligent as it calculates possible outcomes of the game and takes the best action.

Robots

Robots are some of my favorite i like building the hardware but the programing envirment could use some work it did not tell exactly what each command dose. We finally got it to work on the last day of the robotics weeks. Seeing Honda’s first robot to now is a incredible advancements in the time  they worked

Security

Security is one of the most costly and time consuming aspects of computers. You buy anti-malware and firewall software for all your systems and have to take the time to repair a system if it becomes infected but on the other hand hacking can be a good thing it allows us to gain access to things that me may need or have a right to know it can also allow governments to keep a eye on people and other governments that may be a threat. Hacking can be a bad thing though some people do it to rob they may be able to get into a banks system or just get someones credit card number but i do not believe that all hacking is necerly bad

Scratch

Programing in Scratch is very different then in other applications and languages all you do is drag and drop the commands you want instead of learning all of them. I am not so good at deciding what to build but Scratch is a good way to learn how commands shouldbe ordered and how they respond to each other. We also watched The Last Lecture in class and thought it was a good speech and I am going to see if the library has the book. Designing virtual worlds as he did would be very similar to Scratch except it would be 3D.

HTML update – SQL

Doing the web page was not so bad even though i had to do it twice my brother dropped my laptop and there went the hard drive. Design a simple page like what i did although thinking up three hobbies was the hard part but i got it done does not look as nice as i would like but it works The SQL we did in class was much simpler then i thought it would be i download the sql express from Microsoft and played with that a little but over all it wasn’t that bad.

HTML

CodingHTML by hand is not that bad. I keep having to look to remember commands. Also havein some trouble deciding what to put on the page but I will figure that out. Is a little harder to do some of the things like font, bold, italic, etc. Doing this by hand takes considerably longer than by useing a program like dreamweaver. Sill is good to know how to do by hand.

Assembly Language Simulator

I believe the assembly language is the most i have learned in class so far. I can’t emagen what it is like for people who work on this. All the simulator can do is basically add and subtract we only had 16 lines of memory and a few commands but a modern computer has thousands of commands and millions of lines of memory to manage. You would also need a understanding of binary to be able to translate or write any code.Just emagen someone working on something like the eniac they would have to understand all of this but also have the engineering knowledge to physically wire the computer to run commands. This would a grate deal of time and patience even now writhingin machine code is going to take a lot of time even thou we no longer have to wire our computers by hand. I can see how a lot we have learned in class so far links with being able to program like this the histery and opration of computers a understanding ofbinary and other things. I am not sure if I would have the patience to work on something like this but the simulator was fun to work with and being able to writ some very basic programs.

To begin i would install the power supply then i would install the mother board checking screw holes in the board and on the case line up. The next thing to do is install the processors  after witch i would install the memory making sure not to touch any of the pins. After this i would put the 2.5 inch solid state drives in the 3.5 inch mount then install both the mount and the two 3.5 inch 2TB hard drives. Next install the four PCI X16 cards and conect them using the bridge connector that came with the motherboard. After all this connect the liquid cooling system to the two processor water blocks and connect them to the processors then install the blu ray drives next add the memory and case fans. Finely connect the power cables to the power supply then to the different components such as the motherboard, processors, hard drives, blu ray drives, fans, and video cards. Next connect the SATA cables from the drives to the motherboard and connect the cables from the case such as power buttons, front facing usb, and audio jacks. Now assumeing you have done every thing correctly you can fill the liquid cooling system and close the case.

Now to set up your computer you set up your two monitors plug them in plug in you computer connect them with your DVI cables. Now plug in your mouse and keybord receiver connect you speakers insert you Windows install DVD and run the installer.
