Final Blog.

Wow, its crazy that class went by this fast and its already time for the final blog. I can honostly say ive got more out of this class than any other ive taken this semester. This class has so much to offer. There are so many different topics and subjects and I learned so many new things about every single one of them. There are so many things I learned just from this class that I can actually use to get a job and just use throughout life!

Dr. Brown is easily the best teacher ive ever had. Everything he teaches, he does it in a way where you WILL learn it. He actually cares that you do learn and does everything he can to answer questions and make sure you learn what you need to. He gives feedback on all assignments so you know exactly how well you did on whatever it  might be and how you can improve if need be. He is one of the few teachers who admits that he learns something new every semester and keeps up with whats new to make sure you have the most up to date knowledge of what he teachers. I really wish for all my computer classes that im gonna have to come that Dr Brown could be the teacher.

For all future students of CSIT1110 you will love this class. Whether you are computer knowledgable or not everybody has an oppurtunity to learn what is being taught and have new understanding on it. From the first day of class til the last you will enjoy it all.

Thank you Dr. Brown for the class and for all the effort you put forth to teach it. Hope to see you around!

Virtual Reality.

From my experience, vitual reality is really fun! Though im not currently playing, I have spent a long time playing World of Warcraft. It is a blast and the virtual world you run around with all the other people also playing just makes it funner. It can be quite addicting being in a different world where you shape your person to how you want them to be. With my shadow priest I made him exactly how I wanted and made him a dude to be dealt with. Virtual reality is a cool thing. It just gives anyone who uses it an escape from stress or just to have a little fun. I cant really see any negatives of virtual reality but so many positives.

artificial intelligence

This weeks topic of artificail intelligence was very interesting! It made me think of the future and not only the far future but about my future and how I believe there will be robots and crazy stuff like that in my life time. I can imagine it being something like I Robot. I found the videos shown during class pretty interesting like the one where the robot looks extremly real and acts human and plays in plays. The lego mindstorm was pretty cool. For the most part my teams robot made it all the way around the track.

robotics

This week has been based around robotics. We have been messing around with lego mindstorm robots for the past few classes. I personally dont find it very interesting but the other people in the class seem to. It is an interesting topic itself and the videos we have been watching were pretty cool.

Week 9- Security

This was indeed a pretty enjoyable week. All the talks and topics, from hacking to the people involved with hacking, were very interesting. I on and off cracked up for days after hearing about Captain Crunch and his whistle. Just amazes me how someone can think to use a toy whistle from a cereal box as a hacking tool. This is also a very helpful topic to learn about. I believe that if everyone would just learn a little bit about hacking and hackers, it would go a long way to educate people in ways to keep from getting viruses and being hacked. On a side note I finished my scratch project this week and I had a lot of fun doing it!

Programming

Well i dont enjoy programming very much. Thats why its not my major but it is a good and interesting thing to know about! I definitly learned a lot about it. Scratch is a cool little program. I had never heard of it before. Its pretty self explanitory to use and cool things can be created with it. The  Randy Pausch speech was cool. Not many people would be as positive and driven to help others in that situation as he was. I am very glad I got to experience his words and his optimism.

Week 7/ databases

My view on webpages hasnt changed during creating an html page from scratch. I do though find creating a web page easier than what I had thought. Though HTML is a long process its still easier than i believed. It took me a little while to create my html page but afterwords I retained most of how I did it which is always great. The databases is pretty simple. I cant really see myself using it too much but its always good to learning everything you can about everything just incase you need it of course!

Week 6 Networking

Week six was a pretty sweet week. I was excited for it because its networking week which happens to be my major, so of course i was ready to start learning about it. We also looked into html. It was very easy to learn. Dr Brown taught it for about 35 minutes and it was instantly remembered. I went home to see how much i could do on my own and did it all like it was nothing. The web page assignment so far is very easy as long as u pay attention of course. This was a very interesting and imformative week. Dr Brown has a great style of teaching and is when of the few teachers ive had that can really “teach”. I cant wait to keep learning whatever is next!

Week 4 Software

This week in class we went over software. This was so far one of the more interesting weeks ive had in class. Learning from the first concept of software from Babbage to Microsoft and Apple. I didnt know that apple had made the first interactive interface. The assembly language simulator was hard for me to catch onto at first but like the binary I slowly started getting the hang of it for the most part. So far everything we have learned in class from the first four weeks is comming together.

Week 3 – Hardware

This week we learned about the hardware in a computer that makes it go. It was an enjoyable week of class for me because hardware is just something that everyone in the computer field should know. How to build a computer, the parts needed for it, and ect. The assignment for this week is to list the parts that would be put in ur own computer.

That is my list of parts and where to get them. Now for the why.

The following is meant for a fast, highend, and good gaming computer. The case is a good size and all for making a fast and powerful computer. The cooling system is very good. It draws in outside air onto the parts that make the most heat. The power supply is 650 Watts so really power and up to supporting most things including high end video cards. The CPU is an intel i7 which is new and pretty close to top of the line. It is powerful to support my gaming habits. My motherboard was a good choice because it works well with the i7 processor. My 4GB of RAM is made up of two 2gb sticks. It being split up like that will give you slightly better performance compared to one 4gb stick. The monitor is a FPS( flat panel screen) for very good and clear picture and quality. The keyboard and mouse are high quality but are mainly for the purpose of comfort!

Set the motherboard in the case and align with the screw holes pre made in the case. Now to put all the parts in the case correctly and socket/ connect everything together correctly.
