Galway

Streets of GalwayGalway, hands down, was our favorite city we visited. Between the lively downtown with street performers and the ocean and Cliffs of Moher we were overwhelmed with beauty, thus its own slideshow ensued. During our visit the large sailboats in the Volvo race came in and the town had an extra 20,000 people emerging on her. So this led to a city beaming with life, love and possibilities. We enjoyed some of our best shopping in this town as well as our best walks to the beach. The pub life was unlike any other, bordering on shocking. One particular story is when Allyson and I were watching the drummers on the street (picture in file) but I had to go to the bathroom (not to bathe- for you foreigners reading this- just still hate calling it a toilet) I ducked into the closest pub (Supermac had a pass and you had to be a customer so a pub was my only choice) Did I mention the extra 20,000 people? It needs repeating. I went in and slithered my body between a population of 90% men who tried to reach out and touch in their state of mind. Keeping my smiling face but persistant feet I made my way to the “toilet”. I then thought of a back door so I would not have to repeat the same entrance. After ducking through the side yard and finding it blocked, I found the back door to the kitchen where I was emphatically told there is only one way out, back through the sea of people from whence I came. I took deep breaths, got behind a big fella and plowed through unviolated. I felt accomplished and free when I found Allyson on the street saying she then had to go. All I could do was cry in laughter, “No, No, not again”.
Eventually we found a pub with seats and listened to a live band singing what else but American songs.
