Lets Check-In!

I researched foursquare, which when our book was published had over 15 million members checking in to local places. It has an easy to use interface and a 140 character limit. You can check in and share current activity. It is a good way to find where specials and deals are around you city.

Of the reviews I have seen. all of them are positive. Most people say how it is very addictive. Some say that it has no point yet they do it anyway. People say they use it as a good way to find new restaurants and get opinions on restaurants. People use it as a way to also spark interest in business.

“Like” Me!?

I researched 5 different companies that use Facebook to either get or keep customers. There are thousands but I picked 5 I thought were interesting. I found the following information at:

http://www.businessinsider.com/the-20-most-liked-companies-on-facebook-2012-8?op=1

Number 1- Disney Land(14.9 millions likes)
The Disneyland Facebook encourages park-goers to post pictures of their recent visits, and give feedback about their experiences. Disney enhances this strategy by including an interactive app called Disney Memories where fans can build their own Disney Park Castle out of their favorite park memories. The tactic creates a social community that feels open and useful to fans but not contrived or forced.

Number 2-Nutella(16 millions likes)

Nutella’s Facebook page uses cheerful images to tap into the emotional connection fans have for the product. Nutella’s program has linked content with messaging related to the Olympic games. The want to see pictures of people with their families enjoying nutella. The approach is friendly, and plays on the cult-like following of the brand.

Number 3- Target (17.5 million likes)

Target posts upcoming products, sales, specials, ADs, as well as coupons.

Number 4- Monster Energy (18 million likes)

Monster Energy is primarily known for its sponsorship of extreme sports events and athletes. Leveraging this fan base of mainly young males, Monster Energy’s Facebook relies on fan-generated content that is edgy with a strong point of view. The company Facebook page also interacts extensively with celebrities through videos and posts to drive viral engagement. They get female support by using attractive men.

Number 5- Levi’s (13.4 million likes)

Lately, Levi’s has been using Facebook as a platform to help shift the company’s brand image from classic to classic-cool. “Levi Strauss was the first major retailer to add Facebook’s ‘Like’ button to its commerce site, and it created the first Facebook-oriented social shopping experience, the Levi’s Friends Store,” according to Information Week. Fans are able to share with each other what they purchase and like, potentially influencing additional buying decisions.

As for me,

I already like all of these companies, but I would if I had not liked them already. I like all the companies social media techniques.

Google tasks is a very effective tool. It helps you stay on task and is a very advanced ” to-do list”

Let’s get to the task shall we?

I did my mid-term project on Google Tasks. It is actually very simple and easy to explain. You create a Gmail account, download it, sign in, type your tasks, then mark them off as you complete them. I use it every day and it is very simple and effective.

Wow, that is interesting!

Twitta

I have had my twitter account for some time now and hardly ever use it. From the three articles I looked up I found out that having a good and descriptive bio is a must, to tweet something everyday and don’t make your tweets too long.
