virtual reality

this was one of my favorite topics simply because i can relate. I am a fan a of rpg games and i think this section really can be explained a lot by rpg (role playing games). If you think about it, virtual reality is a world build about nothing but what you think the world should be like. you will watch some links about wow (WORLD OF WARCRAFT) which i am not a player of, but you watch these links of people that quit their real lives because they want to live that world more. Quiting your job, loosing touch with everyone, and a lol day everyday gaming. I find that crazy, but in some odd way i can understand their extreme addiction with their other life. i always wondered if dreams were another form of virtual reality, its the closet you can get to another world without a gaming console. some people live to dream of that other place gaming just makes it more realistic.

Final Post

To: all Students who have a desire for a taste of the threshold of the future.

From: the student with now a developed pallet.

Summing up all that I have learned in this class will be more difficult using only three paragraphs than having to write an novel. I cant begin to explain all the useful information you will learn and enjoy for a semester of this coarse. In a short period of time I learn java (partly), binary, how hacking works, about artificial intelligence, robotics, programming, and last but not least how to actually build a computer. If you are taking this class as an elective or its for your major,; its actually a class you will use for your future either way.

Think about this, the past is full of dreams that were so futuristic that they would only exist on other planets or in movies. Flying cars, teleportation, skin and organ regeneration, robots and computers having a conscious  all these things are happening right now. I bet you did not realize that did you? The ideas of the past for the future are now the present. We as a race use technology to for everyday life and hardly notice it. Taking this coarse brings to the light how much you actually depend on technology.

So your saying to yourself, I am not interested in computers or robots. Why should I find this class remotely entertaining? Due to the simple fact of knowing what to expect. Singularity? Maybe? The gray goo? possible. If you have no earthly idea what these are take this coarse. Challenge yourself to be a complete geek like me. Maybe you will find that being a geek, is normal. In a world driven by powerful technology, computer power, and human know how you are the outcast. So if not for me and my words, do it for yourself. Plug into the present. take this coarse and become a geek for a semester. become normal.

With hope for all mankind, I bid you a very fond farewell class of csit intro to technology and most and foremost Dr. Brown. Thank you for inspiring me.

Software

I enjoyed this section to be honest. I learned previously this semester how a computer communicated and spoke binary. The part i did not understand was how out of 1s and 0s a computer could make that stand for all the functions we use a computer for today. the simulator was hard to use at first but after trying it for a couple of minutes i got the hang of it. It really does help to put into perspective how a computer functions with 1s and 0s. When you do get around to working on the simulator don’t be discouraged; you will get the hang of it. thank you for reading.

HTML

How do i say this lightly, I hate it. I had a HTML class in high school and i knew one day I would have it again in college. Needless to say, it was one of the few times i was right. Dr. Brown had us build a web-page with a few details such as the following: images, wrapping text, and headings. I made the fatal mistake of missing a lab where Dr. Brown explained what and how he wanted it. So for anyone who reads this for the next class, do not miss that lab. Thanks for reading as usual.

my computer

In the event i had plenty of money, which being a butcher thats not possible, i would build a super fast computer that fit my personality to the T. Here are the specs-

http://xoxide.com/sunbeam-transformer-case-black.html – this is my case I actually dig the case color and the design. it is a full size case and made of steel so I figured it would hold up just as well as it looks.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131665 – this is the motherboard i chose. i will admit, when i look at the specs i dont really know what it all means. So i picked it based on the fact it had great reviews and it was the most expensive.

http://xoxide.com/sharkoon-rainbow-tc-80mm.html – this is my fan i chose to keep my computer cool. It is a 80mm because that as big as my case could hold. not only does it have lights it also has a temperature display.

http://xoxide.com/superslim-illum-keyboard-black.html – my keyboard. i picked it just due to the fact it looks great to me.

http://xoxide.com/zalman-500hp-power-supply.html – my power supply. i chose this because apparently it is quiet and who wans to watch pirated movies and hear their power supply buzzing the whole time.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115066 – this is my cpu. it is a 6 core processor which would be insanely fast. i also was persuaded by its good reviews.

i did not chose a audio card do to the fact my mother board has a audio card but i will change the video card to support 1080 p

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4691122&Sku=TSD-1000AS3 this is my hard drive- it has great memory its 1TB which is great and can hold tons of music which is the main reason why my current computer is close to full.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp? EdpNo=6252568&Sku=C13-6194 this is my ram. it has 2048 worth of memory and its speed 1868mhz which was the fastest i could find.

http://xoxide.com/logitech-cordless-laser-mouse.html – the reason i choose this mouse is just due to the fact my hands always cramp in my intro tech class and my windows server class. this was is huge so my hand will feel more comfortable.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6594587&Sku=E145-0482%20SC – this is my video card. i love watching movies and this has the best resolution for videos as well as gaming. i a not very into gaming but if i ever was i had a video card to fuel my habit.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5591158&Sku=P67-2028 cd/ dvd drive. once again i love movies and i can burn blue ray movies which would be amazing.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4948341&Sku=S203-2570 this has full 1920x1080p hd i could hook my 360 up too as well as the best computer in the world.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3583822&Sku=B55-1016 – these are the last part needed for my computer y speakers. they are bose so they sound every bit of what you pay for them they sounds great and would do great with my movies.

Now its time to hook it up and screw it in. in order of build

1. the power supply into the case

2. the motherboard

3. the ram

4. the hard drive

5. the cd/dvd drive

6. video card

7. the usb card.

NOTE: while installing each piece be sure to install all cables in correct places.

some extra stuff i would love to have as well:

http://xoxide.com/usb-missile-launcher.html

http://xoxide.com/usb-webmail-notifier.html

http://xoxide.com/usb-mini-fridge.html

I hope you enjoyed reading this. whenever you want to come by the house and play on it i dont care a bit. This computer is completely original i did not use any help building it. aybe one day i can come back and read this and actually build it.

learning binary

To be completely honest I was intimidated to try and learn it given that numbers and math is not my strong suit. After watching him some I began to understand , and felt more comfortable with doing what he asked. I did not take long to learn, actually it is basic math. For anyone taking or about to take this class, no sweat it is not as hard as it seems. after all, if I can learn it you definitely can learn binary.

Introduction to Technology

Being that I am a computer networking major; needless to say I am thrilled with starting computer science courses.  After attending the first day I found the professor to be interesting and easy going which should make for a more relaxed classroom environment.

As we started discussing the actual text of the class it was almost scary to me. I always made fun of the geek that would talk about robots taking over, or anything of the sort. Technology was always a concern for me given it went in the wrong hands. After the first day i could completely understand why that “geek” felt the way he did about robots taking over. What if it is true? What if computers ever get smarter than humans? Can computers develop a conscious if  they can process information like the human brain? This i believe is what that kid was concerned with. I do not have a doubt in my mind that it freaks me out just as that kid. I suppose I will learn ore on this topic as class goes on. I will do y best to keep you, my humble followers, informed.
