Servos are the motors that move the joints and other moving parts of a robot. Sensors are how the robot perceives its world. It can be constructed based on any property that can be measured. Limbs are the arms, mostly programmable, with similar functions to a human hand. My group built a bumper car robot using lego mindstorms. The task of the robot was to bump into things. It moves across the floor until it runs into an object. Once the robot hits an object it stops turns around and goes into a different direction.
I also went on to read more about artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence is concerned with methods of developing systems that display aspects of intelligent behavior that’s designed to imitate he human capabilities of thinking and sensing. Two characteristics of the system include symbolic processing and non algorithmic processing. Symbolic processing process symbols verses letters and numbers. They can process stings of characters that can represent different concepts. Non algorithmic processing programs outside the system.There are step by step method that defines a solution to the problem. Also, I read about expert systems. They are rule based systems that are intended to exhibit expert behavior across a limited domain across a limited domain of knowledge. Classification, diagnosis, monitoring, process control, design, scheduling and planning ,and generation of options. Data mining is the process of analyzing data from different perspectives and summarizing it into useful information. I leaned that data mining can be used to increase revenue and cut costs. Users can analyze data from man different dimensions, angles, and summarize relationships identified. Data are facts, numbers, and text that can be processed by a computer which helps with nonoperational data, such as industry sales, meta data, such as a logical database design, and transactional data, such as sales.
I really enjoyed working in scratch. It’s really neat how you can take a sprite and create things such as stories, games, music, and animations. It was fun to work with. You can make your sprite change into different costumes which allows you to make the character make various movements. There is a section for the movement of your sprite where you can take the programming statements it gives you to make the position of the sprite move in different angles. You can also make your own variables along with using loops to make the sprite change into its different costumes that allows you to repeat the chosen statement numerous times for example, repeat ten or however many times you need. Also, you can change the color of the sprites and make them talk and say different sayings. Scratch is a really fun program to work with.
Computer security, in my opinion, has its pros and cons. The term hacker was looked at as a positive term for someone who obtained control over computers. There are many ways for a computer system to be hacked. For instance, people can be tricked into giving out secure information where hackers impersonate all types of businesses, social engineering. Malware, software that is intended to damage or disable computers and computer systems, includes various attack modes. For example, a worm. Worms are programs that copy themselves while crawling through a computer network. Today, hacking can be a positive thing or a negative. I think that hacking a computer can be positive in such a way that it is helping one who is having computer problems. In the negative sense, I believe that hacking should have its limits such as invading citizens’ privacy.

Robots can be autonomous or semiautonomous and range from humanoids. Robotics is the branch of technology that deals with the design construction, operation, and application of a robot. The robot series is a series of short stories and novels by Isaac Asimov.
I, Robot is a movie that I have an enjoyed watching. It was fascinating to see how real everything seemed and to think that it might actually happen one day. Robots might just take the place of us humans. Don’t get me wrong, robots are very useful. Isaac Asimov wrote a series of nine different books that inspired this movie. It was released in 2004. It was set in a future Earth (2035 A.D.) where robots are common assistants and workers for their human owner. They are programmed with the Three Laws of Robotics directives the first law, the second law and the third law. The first law states that a robot must never harm a human being or, through inaction, allow any harm to come to a human. The second states that a robot must obey the orders given to them by human beings, except where such orders violate the first law. The third law states that a robot must protect its own existence unless this violates the first or second laws. Everybody in the world is relying on a huge system of robots, which are programmed specifically to help humans and not harm them in any way.
Most people view a robot as a machine that imitates a human. There are characteristics that allow people to identify what is and what is not a robot. Robots are able to sense its surroundings much like a human. It can have light sensors for the eyes, hand sensors for touching, chemical sensors for the nose, sonar senors for hearing, and taste senors. Also, there are various ways of movement for a robot. It could have rolling wheels or actual legs like humans. Along with the senses and movement, there’s also energy. Just like humans, robos need to be able to power itself which depends on what the robot is instructed to do. Last but not least, intelligence. Intelligence is where he programming comes into play. A programmer writes the programs that allow the robot to do the tasks it was made to do. A robot is a system that contains sensors, control systems, manipulators, power supplies and software all working together to perform a task. It is amazing how the capabilities of a robot is so close in similarities to humans. I read that within the next 12 years, the ability of robots interactions with humans will cause a technological imbalance.
My experience with uploading my webpage to the server was pretty simple. I had to log onto the SSH Shell Client. From there I had to make sure that all my files were saved on the server in the folder public_html. My experience with HTML was a great experience. It bought me back to the days when I use to decorate my profile using html. I really enjoyed being creative. On my webpage I talked about three of my favorite hobbies to do which were dance, modeling and acting, and fishing. I tried to keep my paragraphs simple and added a pink background and scrolling text at the top saying Welcome to Olivia’s webpage. I added links that pertained to my hobbies that included a youtube video of me dancing in high school. the studio I dance along with a few more. I tried to go over and beyond to get my photos to scroll and I didn’t give up until I successfully figured it out.
The assembly simulator takes commands that execute the institutions to machine code. Also, you always start at 0. STOP, READ, and WRITE have numbers that are assigned to each byte in a computers memory that the CPU uses to track where the data and instructions are stored in RAM. Registers are high level data that is stored in a memory that uses logic gates like those we have studied. Using the simulator, I learned that when you get the command load 15,R1, it is saying put 15 into R1. Add 15,R1, represents adding 15 andR1 where SUB 7,R1 means subtract 7 from R1.
To build a computer you need to find the appropriate parts to build a computer. The processor is the “brain” of the computer. You should compare processors that has the proper speed that you are wanting to use that runs all programs that you are wanting to use. Next is the motherboard which connects to all the internal components. ATX and mATX are to main factors of the motherboard. ATX is known as the standard full sized motherboard. mATX is smaller than ATX. mATX is more suited for portable systems and also media PCs. You also have to make sure that your motherboard supports other components that you want to install. Then there are programs that store information that one is using which is called RAM. RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It should be installed in matching pairs. Also, in RAM, the systems should be the same speed. Following that, you need a hard drive that will store all data and installed programs. Then you need a dedicated graphic card that is essential for being able to play the latest games is called a video card. Next is a case that houses your computer that determines how many drives that will be installed and the size of the motherboard. And last is the power supply that powers all of your components in your computer. You need to research all components that have been purchased.
I have learned that we use base-10 for encoding numbers and that computers use base-2 because the computer is made up of switches that has only two positions, 0 and 1. They are used to represent any number which value is 2 times the previous position starting with the one’s place on the right. Binary is also known as base 2 that represents the numeric values using 0 and 1 to encode information. It is the form of encoding that allows computers to run. Decimal base, base 10, is represented using the ten digits the way humans count. Converting from binary to decimal is a process where summing the symbols multiplied by the place value. The way you convert from decimal to binary is by finding the largest place value that’s less than or equal to the number being converted. Counting, adding, in binary we use 0 + 0 = 0, 1 + 0 = 1, 0 + 1 = 1 and 1 + 1 = 10 where closed switches are represented by the number 1 while 0 represents open switches.
I am a very outspoken person. I can come of as being shy and very intimidated by others but I actually am a very talkative, smiling, laughing person. Also, I love to dance. Dance has been my passion since I was born. I do not know what I would ever do without it. I began to become interested in computers when I was just a little girl. My parents had a computer that would sit in my room and I would just stare at it wondering what it was and what all it could do. So one day, I just decided to play with it. Teach myself how to turn it on, and what to do as far as navigating around the computer. So once I caught on to that, I have just loved using the computer ever since. I love designing and networking. My major is Computer Science and I am not fond of programming but I really want to learn and hopefully enjoy it once I get past the teacher who seems to make it as if Computer Science is not for me. Overall I am a very high spirited person. I love to smile, sing [badly], dance, act, to fish fish, all sports, food and pretty much anything! My parents are the most important people in my life. I am adopted. My father is now 75, turning 76 in March, who is still working in order for me to go to school without having to work and allows me to continue to live at home and have no worries to just focus on one thing and that’s school. I live on a farm and I love spending time with my father while working on the farm. I have always followed my father around and did everything that he did. He was the one who chose computer science to be my major. My father works at Y-12. I have 4 brothers which two of them are engineers like my father. I have always been fascinated by the way computers work. I am excited to learn all I can about computers. I’m excited to see what is in store.
I am looking forward to graduating in May. When I first meet people, I am shy. But as I said before, I love smiling and being talkative. I have a tendency to feel like I do not fit in. I am a hard working student. I do not know what else to say about myself but again, I hope this helps you get to know me better.
