South Africa students and our new friends at the Hanover Lodge and HotelAfter two beautiful days in JoBurg, we headed out for Cape Town on Thursday morning.  About half way to our destination, our bus broke down.  Luckily, we found a quaint bed and breakfast – The Hanover Lodge and Hotel that was able to accomodate us for the night.  Our contacts in Cape Town sent a new bus, and we headed out this morning to Cape Town.  The ride was peaceful and very scenic.  We have enjoyed seeing the South African countryside.  Thank you to Eddie and Beryl, owners of the Hanover Lodge and Hotel.  They turned an unexpected circumstance into a lifelong memory…we will be back next year!!

We arrived safe and sound in JoBurg and are excited to begin our Study Abroad program!!

We have just completed our first full day in JoBurg.  Students spent the afternoon at the Apartheid Museum.  It is dinner time and it seems as though students are adjusting well and the thrill of living in another culture is becoming obvious.  The African beef stew was delicious!!  Tracey Bradley, Director

Anthropology students will be visiting renowned anthropological sites in the Cradle of Humankind tomorrow, including the Transvaal Museum and Sterkfontein Caves.  Students will also visit with world famous fossil Mrs. Ples.  We are excited to meet her!! Jonathan Bethard, Anthropology Instructor
