This past week in Computer Science we  started playing with the Lego Mindstorm robots. It was a lot of fun to alter simple programs to make the robot do different things. We also watched some videos on robots. The honda robot is just crazy.  It has come so far!  Technology is amazing now. To make a robot run is a very hard task and it looked great. The behing the scenes of The Matrix is a really interesting video I would definitely recommend.

This past week in Computer Science we learned about Security. I actually learned that the term hacking wasn’t always negative.  Talking about hacking made me realize how easy it is for a site or email to be hacked. This makes me nervous because I use my email a lot. My boyfriend just got back from Iraq and while he was gone we talked about everything through email. I also learned how easy it is to get a computer virus.  I keep a lot of things on my computer that I wouldnt be happy about if my infomation got out.  I also do a lot of online banking so now I think twice about the things I do on here and how careful I do them. Overall, computer security is a big thing because our generation is moving forward to depending on the computer for everything.

This past week my Computer science class learned about html. I am really new to all of this. I have never had experience with any of this. I have seen it but only because I copy and paste things such as putting a picture on myspace. Which I goto a site like photobucket and they do it all for you. I have been a little bit on this since wednesday. I am hoping I can finally fully understand How to create a webpage. I have been really interested in this for a long time. I was actually excited to see we were going to make a webpage when I looked at the syllabus at the beginning of the semester.

FIrst since i have never built a pc i would take the antistatic wrist wrap and put it on to ensure I wouldn’t damage any of the parts. then  I would instal the processor on the motherboard where there are holes and an arm that locks it in, then i would instal the cpu  cooler which fits right over the processor and latch it on and plug in the power chip. Next I would put the ram in the slots next to the cpu and cooler but you should read the manual on the motherboard to be sure which slot is the right one for the ram.  I would then  place the motherboard into the computer case. Next I would take the fan out  and pull the entire drive cage out and install the hard drive. After that remove the front part where the optical drive goes and place the drive in. The next step would be to place the connectors to the block and then it will line up to the board. Then the rest of the connectors should line up. When done you should go ahead and slide the power supply into the case. ANd then plug in the cables, which are color coded. After that you will need to place  your sound card into the pc slots. Then plug in the power cables which will connect between the memory and sound card.  and also plug in the sound card. it will say pci. Next sata on the optical drive and the hard drive,then connect the fan.   Finally plug it in, install windows and make sure everything works. If needed, go back and clean up the wire. 

I read a lot on mysuperpc.com beyond the videos supplied for the assignment. I really liked the Geeks.com website, they offer a lot of different products, new and used.

I am 24 years old and have a 2year old daughter. I bartend and now going back to school for the 3rd time. I think I have finally found a major I am happy with, Computer science. I like to goto Concerts(mostly rock), but I love 80’s music. I try to see The breakfast Club each time they come to Knoxville. I live to goto the lake in the summer.  I spend most of my sundays there. I Love Tennessee! I am originally from Detroit,Mi. I have lived here most of my life though.  I am looking forward to the next 2 years learning more about Computer Science. I think I will be happy with each and every class I take as well.
