I would like to start out an say I have never completely built a computer. If i had a case and a motherboard I would have to buy or find parts to get my computer running fast and smoothly! If money wasn’t an issue and everything went as planned i’d start out by buying my parts. I would start by getting a Western digital velociraptor 600gb  sata/ 600 10,000rpm 32g HD, then get a Creative sound blaster X-Fi Xtreme gamer SB0770 7.1 channel PCI sound card, a NEC 5+1  port USB 2.0 PCI controller card, and Samsung cd/ dvd rom drive.  I found all this information at geeks.com. I would start by putting it all together with placing in RAM in its slot. Slide in the hard drive and put the cd rom drive in.  As making sure as I go everything is tight and screwed in, if needs to be and the power and data cables along the way. Then putting the video card, usb ports, ethernet cards, and sound card in. While also making sure its screwed in and connecting the cables and everything in. When I get it all together and before closing the case I would make sure everything is in there tight and screwed in and connected properly. Its such aggravation to think you are good to go then have to take it all apart. Once its all in and closed up and connect the main power and hope I had a good computer built!

This week I have learned a lot about binary. In the past I have went over binary some and the more I go over it a lot easier it is. The comics make learning things a lot better and easier to learn with the humor! I enjoy the comics a lot better than just reading over the lecture notes.

I play video games and wish I had time to play more, but with school and work its very little. The games I play are the Modern Warfares and the Halo games. I really don’t understand the pros to video games other then just something people love to do. I see cons only for younger kids playing violent video games. I love playing online with friends. The games I play are most all shooting games so it doesn’t have rewarding things from it other than bragging rights. But over time you notice how much better graphics get in every game even within a few months of new games.  With technology out and the good headsets you can hear if people are close by hearing their foot steps or what type of structure they are even walking on. I never been to a virtual world or anything like that but i could see how you would be able to meet with people that way instead of actually flying across the world. I am a gamer that hopefully will get to enjoy playing more when Christmas Break is here! When I hear the word robots, the first things that comes to my mind is the movie “Short Circuits.” According to IMDB, the storyline is Number 5, one of a group of experimental military robots, undergoes a sudden transformation after being struck by lightning. He develops self-awareness, consciousness, and a fear of the reprogramming that awaits him back at the factory. With the help of a young woman, Number 5 tries to evade capture and convince his creator that he has truly become alive. There is also a second movie called Short Circuit 2. In that movie  Number Five is sent from Newton and Stephanie’s ranch to the big city to help Ben with his electronics business, he finds that his robotic talents are wanted by city low-life who want to turn Number Five into profits. Just so everyone knows Number 5 is the robot and main character. According to Wikipedia, A robot is a mechanical or virtual intelligent agent that can perform tasks automatically or with guidance, typically by remote control. In practice a robot is usually an electro-mechanical machine that is guided by computer and electronic programming. Robots can be autonomous, semi-autonomous or remotely controlled. Robots range from humanoids such as ASIMO and TOPIO to Nano robots, Swarm robots, Industrial robots, mobile and servicing robots. By mimicking a lifelike appearance or automating movements, a robot may convey a sense that it has intent or agency of its own. I personally see robots as something absolutely amazing. If things worked out like the movie in I-Robot and helped everyone and didn’t great things before turning bad, it would make everyones life a lot less stressful. But Robots are coming about more and more. Like in the space programs they send all kinds of stuff to go on Mars and to discover amazing things. When times are hard to send humans they can send robots to help us figure out a lot more. I also a lot of mechanical things which i consider a part of robots. Stuff like that helps with surgeries and even giving people the ability to use as their limbs. Great things have came from technology that has given us these great advantages in our society today. In the next couple of years we will see even greater things coming in to our world. Then it will probably be a shared world!

I have to be completely honest with this. I struggled tremendously with Scratch. I couldn’t figure out how to turn the object around other than flipping him upside down. It was very difficult and probably a lot easier with a little bit of practice! But like I said in my previous I have used Alice before and it was a lot easier! But my opinion on hacking I think its very impressive the things some people can do with a machine! When i think of hacking the movie “Swordfish” pops right in my head! Its crazy thinking people breaking into big security systems. Even breaking into other people cell phones seems crazy! Viruses are something most people hate! Which can slow down or even ruin a machine. Some people make viruses to just prove a point that they are that good with computers but yet other people hate them for it. I use a Mac which i really don’t have much to worry about but always have updates and stuff which is one reason why the say Mac doesn’t get them and that they don’t come with Adobe! But you can get as an application which don’t make sense. When a new software comes out though we have to pay for it,  a lot more than with Windows so thats kind of like buying a anti virus.

In this week of assignments, I have learned some things and reviewed some things.  The whole virtual world is a cool learning experience. When I was at ETSU I took a semester in computers and used a lot of Alice. I have that program still on my desktop which is back in my home town. But I have used a lot of it! But the who concepts are awesome and make it a lot easier of using it and scratch. Randy Pausch speech is amazing and shows how a lot of people don’t give up on life when they have an obstacle in their way. Some people give up when it happens but other do what Randy Pausch does. He gives a lot of hope and is a role model. He shows a lot of people to not give up and fight for what you want. He is really is very inspirational and that never to give up on your dreams!
