Week 2

Hello bloggers, this is Zach again.  This week we covered binary coding.  it’s an interesting concept on how much information can be stored with just “ones” and “zeroes”.  We alos took a look at decimal coding and hexidecimal coding.  At first, i had difficulty converting binary to decimal. After a minute of working on it though it deemed simpler than it looked.  other things that were discussed were different types of information that can be stored in binary: text, graphics, audio, video, programs, and numbers.  That’s about it for now.  i find this class interesting, but right now im just trying not to fall behind (being kinda new to this whole computer thing).

Until next blog,

Zach

P.S.  I almost forgot to talk about this idea of transhumanism.  That’s some real crazy stuff.  Thinking about the idea of the singularity gives me the goose bumps.

Zach Hanniford

This is my first blog I’ve ever done.  I’m not very computer saavy, but I can work my way around one.  My name is Zach. I am currently 21 years old and hail from Memphis, TN.  In high school, I wrestled and played soccer.  I try to stay in somewhat decent shape still by biking everyday and, when the weather permits, playing ultimate frisbee a couple times a week. I have an English mastiff that weighs 230 pounds, but he’s a big wuss.  I’m also very big into jam music. I’ve seen Phish 11 times in five different states.  I have similar numbers for bands like Widespread Panic, String Cheese Incedent, Keller Williams.  Lastly, I am a math major.  I’ll end on that.
